Getting Started
Uploading Files to iZipPDF
Uploading a file is the first step in almost every iZipPDF workflow. The process is designed to be simple: choose a tool, add your file, wait for the upload to finish, and download the finished result.
This guide explains which files you can upload, how drag and drop works, what to do when an upload seems stuck, and how to avoid common browser or network problems.
Supported file types
Each iZipPDF tool accepts the file types that make sense for that task. PDF tools such as Merge PDF, Split PDF, Compress PDF, Rotate PDF, and Protect PDF accept PDF files. Image tools accept common image formats such as JPG, JPEG, and PNG. Office conversion tools accept Word, Excel, and PowerPoint formats when the selected tool supports them.
If you try to upload a file that does not match the current tool, the upload area may reject it or the tool may show a message asking you to choose a different file. For example, PDF to Word expects a PDF, while Word to PDF expects a DOC or DOCX file.
- PDF files: .pdf
- Images: .jpg, .jpeg, .png
- Word documents: .doc, .docx
- Excel spreadsheets: .xls, .xlsx
- PowerPoint presentations: .ppt, .pptx
- HTML files: .html, .htm
Maximum file size
File size limits can depend on the tool, your account status, and the processing method available on the server. Smaller files usually upload and process faster, especially on mobile connections.
If your file is very large, try compressing it first, closing other browser tabs, or using a stronger Wi-Fi connection. For scanned PDFs, image-heavy presentations, and long reports, upload speed may be affected by both file size and page complexity.
How to upload with drag and drop
Drag and drop works best on desktop and laptop browsers. On mobile devices, use the upload button to choose a file from your device storage, photo library, or file manager.
- 1Open the iZipPDF tool you want to use.
- 2Drag your file from your computer into the upload area.
- 3Wait until the upload progress reaches 100 percent.
- 4Review any file details shown by the tool.
- 5Choose the available processing options and start the tool.
Cloud uploads
Some iZipPDF screens include cloud import options. If cloud upload is not configured for your workspace yet, the tool will show a friendly message instead of opening a cloud picker.
When cloud upload is available, make sure you select a file that the active tool supports. Cloud files may take a little longer to appear because the service needs to authorize access and transfer the file before processing begins.
Upload troubleshooting
- Refresh the page and try the upload again.
- Check that the file type matches the tool.
- Rename files with very long names or unusual symbols.
- Try a smaller file to confirm the connection is working.
- Disable browser extensions that block uploads or scripts.
- Switch from mobile data to Wi-Fi if the upload is unstable.
Browser compatibility
iZipPDF works best in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox. Older browsers may not support modern upload APIs, drag and drop, or PDF preview features.
If a file uploads in one browser but not another, clear the browser cache, update the browser, or try a private browsing window. This helps rule out cached scripts and extension conflicts.
FAQ
Why is my upload stuck?
A stuck upload is usually caused by a weak connection, a very large file, or a browser extension interrupting the request.
Can I upload files from my phone?
Yes. Use the upload button and choose a file from your phone storage, downloads folder, or photo library.
Why does iZipPDF reject my file?
The selected tool may not support that file type. Choose a matching tool or convert the file first.
